Field note · 18 March 2026
Timing rules we use around the London open
Session cues that refine an existing bias without letting the first thirty minutes rewrite the higher-timeframe read.
The London open is where many carefully written bias cards go to die. Volatility is useful for timing and dangerous for story-changing.
Allowed cues
Inside a pre-written higher-timeframe lean we look for pullbacks that hold against a daily higher low (in a bullish case), or failed breaks that return inside the prior session range without violating invalidation.
Disallowed cues
A single impulsive candle against bias in the first half hour is not permission to flip. Neither is a headline that has not yet produced a closing break of your invalidation rule.
Practical habit
Write the bias card before 07:30 UK when you can. After the open, annotate timing only. If you feel the urge to edit the weekly sentence, step away for ten minutes and re-read the invalidation line you committed to on Sunday.
